Fueled by exploration.
Fossil fuels are often viewed negatively these days, but petroleum goes into a lot more than our gas tanks. The helmets that protect us, the gear that help us to explore and the smartphones in our hands. While it’s important to continue to shift towards a more carbon-neutral society, we need to recognize at least a few things that petroleum-based products make possible in our world. A few solutions were developed below to do just that as we continue to transition to cleaner world.
Good app-eal is app-arent.
When Valero launched their own payment app, they needed a few things: a logo lockup, an app icon, a look for the overall appeal and an icon set. On top of that, it needed to feel clean and easy. New letterforms were developed based on the Valero logo itself for the lockup. Minimalism was key to the rest of the assignment for neatness and functionality. A clean and energetic icon set rounded out the look to communicate maximally with simple line illustration.

Fueled by rescues.
Good deeds should definitely be rewarded, and it seemed perfect for Valero to highlight people who adopt out-of-state doggos. A network had grown organically to ferry these friends to their new owners, so a little awareness could help things along. That, and a little care package to help drivers shoulder the cost of fuel. Along with a few treats for those special friends. At the very least, some fun stuff was created to help make it a bit better for those working to make the world a bit better.

This, that and the other thing.
On occasion, an assignment comes across that may seem small but echoes outward in a big way. Developing a new design for a credit card may not seem like a big deal, but it’s a unique opportunity: extending the brand inside one’s pocket. Likewise for trade show booths. How can you uniquely position a brand in a space that’s lousy with competition? What if you don’t know how much space that booth will take up? Being conspicuous and flexible is certainly a challenge, but it was met and exceeded expectations. So certainly unique opportunities, but also opportunities to have some fun.
